2007 OPA-0485 OSHPD Approved

2007 OPA-0485 Seismic Manual - The Only OSHPD Pre-Approved 2007 for Non-Structural Seismic Design Building Code

ISAT is proud to announce its approval as the single corporation to be awarded a California OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) OPA pre-approval for a seismic design manual meeting the requirements of the 2007 California Building Code, Chapter 16A requirements for essential facilities. This two-volume set provides approved, pre-engineered solutions for the seismic restraint of building services (mechanical pipe, duct, electrical, and plumbing systems). In keeping with its commitment to the industry and to secure this pre-approval, ISAT engineers worked together with OSHPD for more than four years and invested almost two million dollars in staff time, fees, and product testing.

Customers will find that the ISAT OPA 0485-07 was designed to facilitate streamlining an installation for any market segment. Details provide a variety of seismic bracing options sufficient to avoid common problems in congested areas where bracing is required.

Utility components in the ISAT OPA 0485-07 manual include, but are not limited to:

  • Cable Tray & Bus Duct
  • Electrical Conduit
  • Conduit Racking
  • Vibration Isolation Electrical Equipment
  • Hangers & Supports
  • Mechanical Piping
  • HVAC Duct
  • Plumbing Process Piping
  • Ductile Piping Materials
  • Non-Ductile Piping Systems
  • Inline and Independently Supported Suspended Equipment
  • Piping Systems with Hazardous Contents

OSHPD Compliance

California’s building code requires OSHPD certification of critical facilities throughout the state. Additionally, International Building Codes are used by almost every state, and address both the design and installation of building systems with an emphasis on performance. Model code regulations that safeguard public health and safety are the backbone of such building codes. Other countries have been modeling the example of the United States and enforcing the use of building codes as well. In areas that do experience earthquakes, these nonstructural system protections ensure buildings remain functional to ensure the safety of occupants and for essential building management.
